Lake Shikotsuko

Day 6 of our vacation ~ In a blink of an eye, six days have passed and today is the last day of our trip.  Before we bid farewell, we headed to our last destination, Shikotsuko-onsen, which features the deepest natural volcano lake in Japan located at the highland.

We boarded a boat that had a submarine-like basement, from which we had a pretty good view of the underwater world.

Lake Shikotsuko is 363m deep and is the second deepest lake in Japan.  The shoreline length is 40.3km (which is approximately the distance that I cycled during the OCBC Cycling Challenge!).   But today, we went deep down the lake to witness the floor patterns formed by the onsen.

Not to forget the different schools of fishes...

After the submarine ride, we enjoyed some yummy desserts at the nearby bakery.  Unfortunately it was marred by a gigantic black eyed and black beaked crow (almost the size of an eagle) which kept trying to steal our desserts...

Thankfully, we ended our trip on a happy note, seeing many cherry blossoms in full bloom!

Sayonara Hokkaido and we hope to see you again!
